Bear

Colour: Black and Tan

Age: 4-6 years

Weight: 70lbs

Sex: Neutered by VACS

This boy is a total sweetheart and he knows exactly how to give those puppy dog eyes that make everyone fall in love with him! A stable, loving home is long overdue for this guy and he can't wait to be adopted.

Bear has been so well behaved during his stay with us. Even after 10 days in the pound, he has not done any barking or chewing. He loves to go out on walks and will need daily exercise, but he doesn't have excessive energy to burn. He walks nicely on a leash and knows all his basic obedience commands. He's great with sit and shake a paw, and his food motivation will make it easy to teach him new things. He is a bit of a baby when it comes to car rides and prefers having his feet on the ground.

We don't know much about Bear's previous life, but we know it was not ideal. When found he was wearing a very tight pinch collar and was suffering from a long-untreated infection in both ears that had ulcered in his ear canals and was causing a huge amount of pain. He has been receiving vet care for the infection which has already drastically improved, and he is feeling much better. Bear has also just been neutered.

Unfortunately we have not yet had many good opportunities to see how Bear does with other dogs. He's not reactive when he sees dogs in the distance, but may need work on direct interaction. He barks at cats but with some training and patience could likely live peacefully with a feline.

Bear is available to meet potential adopters at the pound between 10:30 - 4, Monday - Saturday.
