Jerry is an indoor only cat that is accustomed to being the only pet and living in an apartment. He came to be at the pound after his owner passed away in August. Jerry really struggled with the loss and adjustment to his new life at the pound. Jerry showed us how loyal he was to his person by being very angry and really quite mean to us for a very long time. It took about 2 months of sitting quietly with him giving out treats, cat nip, using hormone spray and playing cat purring videos (he really likes those) to get him to even start to relax and open up.
One day suddenly in a moment he just decided it would be ok for us to pet him. He made eye contact, stomped over, started purring and rubbing on things. Just like that he became a big snuggle bug. After that huge step Jerry started greeting us with meows and not wasting any time coming over for a cuddle. He has a great big purr and practices it often. Jerry is still nervous of sudden movements and has a fight (not flight) response but he often keeps his claws in and his confidence and trust in us grows each day.
Jerry is best suited to a quieter adult only home. He is likely to take his time to settling in to his new home. Once Jerry is comfortable though, he will show you how big his heart is and just how much love he has to share.
Jerry has a sensitive stomach and will need easy to digest dry food to avoid him vomiting his kibble. He seems to be fine with different types of canned food.
We are guessing Jerry is about 8-10 years old. He litter box trained but occasionally poops just outside the box. He is neutered, microchipped, has his first vaccine and has been treated for fleas. Jerry’s adoption fee is $200.00.
