The Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting a pet from us, please come to the Pound to meet them in person. We always have cats available, kittens in the summer, dogs occasionally, puppies rarely and everything else eventually.

Our cats are "free range" - meaning they make themselves comfortable where they like throughout the office and adoption rooms. Victoria, Carley, or Kim will talk to you about what you're looking for in a pet and will round up the candidates into the adoption room where you can spend some time getting to know them.

Once you have chosen a pet, you will be required to complete a one-page adoption application. The application consists of questions that will help us determine whether you will be a suitable owner for the animal you are applying for.  If you are a renter, we will need to contact your landlord to confirm that you are allowed to bring a pet into your home.

The Adoption Coordinator will review your application and if you are approved you can immediately take your new best friend home with you. Of course, there is always an adoption fee and if you are adopting a dog, you will also be required to purchase him/her a shiny new dog licence. We accept cash, debit and VISA.

Your signature is required on the Adoption Contract because you will be making a serious commitment to care and keep the animal in a humane, ethical, responsible and lawful manner for the rest of its life.

Every adopter receives a discount card for food and accessories at Bosley's Pet Food and also is given 6 weeks of free pet health insurance.

We think our Pound & Adoption Centre is a great place for the animals that temporarily live here, but as good as it is, it isn't a home - we need you and many more to provide that.

You're invited to see them for yourself during the following times:

  • Monday to Friday 10:00am to 4:30pm
  • Saturday 10:30am to 4:30pm
